How Fasting Helped Rush Limbaugh

I can remember driving down the road a couple of years ago listening to famed talk show host Rush Limbaugh describe the events which led to an addiction to pain killers. It was at the end of his regular three hour broadcast. When the show was over, we were told, he was immediately heading to an unnamed clinic where he would be secluded and treated for five weeks. That, we can only assume, is exactly what he did. No one, outside of a select few, saw or heard anything from him for a full five weeks. Guest hosts filled in on the show every day. He was treated by persons specializing in addictive behaviors and when the time was over and the drugs were purged out of his system, he came back to the airwaves a conquering hero. I listened intently as he described the process by which he found freedom. While I do not completely discount the psychological treatment he received, I do not believe it was the ultimate factor which brought about his freedom. He could have received such treatment at home. His financial means would have allowed for that. I believe he, and the specialists, recognized that the severity of the addiction demanded and overwhelming response. He fasted from the luxuries of home and the environment which enabled the addiction. The fast, along with the personal conviction he had and the prayers of people which must have numbered in the millions, was ultimately responsible for the victory. Well done, Rush.

Global Warming? Gimme a Beak!

So, the liberal, anti-capitalist, political types in B.C. got their wish by passing a new gasoline tax to the tune of over seven cents per litre. Can anyone reading this point to a single thing government can do to decrease the global temperature by any measurable amount?
The first lie they tell you, in order to justify robbing you, is that carbon dioxide (co2) is a pollutant. WRONG! We (humans) exhale carbon dioxide when we breath. The vegetation around us, i.e. trees, grass, etc., inhale carbon dioxide and exhale oxygen, which we then inhale. Does everyone get the connection? Good!
The next thing they tell you is that you can do something to stop the impending doom and gloom. WRONG! You did not cause it and there is nothing you can do to alter any climate correction the earth wishes to make. David Suzuki is wrong in more ways than just his choice of hair styles.
The next thing they tell you is you are all doomed if you take a do nothing approach. WRONG! Thirty years ago the T.V., radio, and newspapers were full of propaganda telling us if we did’nt do something about global COOLING we were all going to freeze to death in twenty years. We did nothing…and it worked. The liberal, scientific community’s agenda back then was to separate you from your money. This time around they have regurgitated the same old playbook hoping for better results. Yes, I have seen Al Gore’s movie and if we endevour to utilize some of the grey matter put between our ears by our creator, mixed with a little common sense, we will quickly conclude that the emperor has no clothes and the wizard of oz is simply and old man standing behind a curtain, pulling some levers and pushing some buttons. In other words, Al Gore is a bitter man who believes his destiny to become president was stolen from him and now he’s crying in the corner,
searching for relevance. This astute observation on my part is underscored by the opening introduction in his speach in the movie when he says:”My name is Al Gore and I used to be the next president of the United States”.
I am writing this, my fellow citizens, because this will not stop with B.C. The leader of the federal liberal party has promised a similar tax for the entire country. Apparently he has seen the incredible opportunity to increase the size of government and impose restrictive limits on capitalism. Is that what you need, Mr. And Mrs. Canada? Prime Minister Dion rescuing you from your wicked ways? The god of liberalism is too expensive to follow. You can’t afford it.

I may be wrong…but I doubt it.

Ground Hog Day

Sure, everybody has one. Some people have a couple. Many people don’t remember what it was, and may even deny having one, but we all do have one. I’m talking about a favorite movie. Every once in a while, however, a film comes along that rocks you to your very core. It changes your life and marks a turning point for you where you can look back and point to that cinematic experience as “the moment” when you recieved the revelation that we all require in order to understand the nuances of life. It does’nt have to be a movie, of course, but it is an undeniable event.

For me it was Ground Hog Day. No really. It was literally the date on the calendar we all refer to as Ground Hog Day. I had the day off for some unknown reason and a televison station was running a Ground Hog Day marathon. I was alone at home, again for some unknown reason, and decided to watch the movie. That’s right. The movie titled, “Ground Hog Day” with Bill Murray. I had watched the movie years prior and just figured it was about a guy and girl falling in love. Big deal. As I watched it this time around I realized there was so much more being communicated here. For those of you who have’nt seen it, Murray’s character is a news reporter sent to cover the rodent coming out of the cage to see his shadow, blah blah blah. He wants to date the producer. She has higher aspirations because Murray plays a womanizing pervert. The story line is that Murray miraculously relives Ground Hog Day over and over and over and…well you get the picture. After several unsuccessful attempts to seduce the fair lady he attempts to learn what she likes in a man and then pretend to be him. Understand that the other characters are not reliving the same day over and over. Only Murray’s character is. So that gives him 24 hours to get the girl, so to speak. The next day will be Ground Hog Day all over again and she will have forgotton all about his charms. He succeeds in learning the secret to her heart and almost wins the lady but, alas, she sees through it in the end. Eventually he decides he has had enough of Ground Hog Day and decides to kill himself…to no avail. It can not be done.

He decides he would use his time in Ground Hog Day purgatory to learn to do all the things he said he could do before but really could’nt. He becomes a classical pianist; a doctor; and so on. After he, with proper motives, finally BECOMES the man of the woman’s dreams, then the woman is finally able to give herself to him.

The moral of the story is there are too many fakes out there. I used to be one. I must confess that after watching this movie all those years ago I made a concious decision to become all that God intended me to be. There are too many talkers out there. The Bible says the Kingdom of God is not of talk but of power. Who are you, really? I mean really? Right where the rubber meets the road! Are you really who you claim to be? It will all be revealed in time. Are you ready for it?
